Last weekend I hired Nine. I thought it was fantastic. Glittery and large and fun and wow what an interesting cast of women. I can see where it might have got negative reviews - they mention in the special features that they cast the film before they really wrote the characters, and thus every character is exactly who you would imagine her to be, based on her casting, which isn't particularly adventurous or ground-breaking, but damn, is it fun.

I haven't seen the original, so I have no idea how it compares to that. But I will say that the entire experience was worth it to see Judi Dench rocking this fabulous corset in her musical number.

The 'Moragsaurus' earrings I bought from [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose's Etsy Store were waiting for me when I got home from work today! OMG they're so adorable! I couldn't wait to try them on!

I took a few pics to show them off!

I am TOTALLY wearing these to work tomorrow.

Or, Angie is feeling a bit bored and trying to write a crazy pairing fic which is hard (thanks, Tet! :P) and is thus amusing herself by posting a picspam of Agnes Moorehead combined with details from Muriel's life.

My copy of Bewitched Season 7 arrived today. Yes, I bought it from Amazon, which I feel kind of guilty about, but I threw a copy of Olivia into my order also. I figured if I was going to buy from Amazon, I could at least show them that I also support GLBT books. Truth is, Amazon is the best place to buy DVDs I can't get here (for some reason, Bewitched 7 has an 'unknown release date' here, despite the other six seasons being available), and I don't know anywhere else that has their range and also their reasonable prices and good shipping reputation (everything I order comes within two weeks, which is pretty good for international). If anyone else knows any alternative sites, though, please clue me in! All of the copies available on ebay were stupidly overpriced.

Anyway, I just needed to say that god, this show is FUCKING AWESOME. 'Salem Saga' killed me about a thousand times. Here, have some caps:

Or, as the Fug girls would say: Well Played, Miranda Richardson.

I guess there's a law somewhere that states that if a movie premiere falls on your 51st birthday, you must show up to said premiere looking smokin' hot, with just-shagged hair, and wearing a dress in a colour that not many people could pull off, but you look AWESOME in?

I think there is. And I think Miranda PWNED it.

Introducing the latest object of my fangirly adoration, Raquel Cassidy. I saw her first in Teachers, and in the last week I've also watched all three seasons of Lead Balloon and the two films she's made with Lisa Gornick, Do I Love You? and Tock Tock Lullaby. All of these caps are from the latter three. I've tried to capture some of the crazy faces she makes, because she's freakin' adorable.

Spam, spam, spam!

Follow the pretendy-cut to my icon community, because I forgot about custom comment pages when I spent ages making this all neat and pretty and stuff *g*.

Two more pics from The Young Victoria! One of them which [livejournal.com profile] missfoxie will love. You ask, m'dear, I deliver. ;)

I watched two random, obscure Miranda films I've had on my shelf for months, today. The first was Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang, which was a cheesy, weird kids movie in which a six year old kid knocks his head in a store where he's gone to buy tomatoes and had the owners take the mickey out of him, passes out and dreams that he's been sentenced to two years, two months, two weeks, two hours, two minutes and five seconds in a children's prison called Slimer's Island (by a rapping Judge played by Ice T, in pre-Fin days), run by a dude called The Hooded Fang, who has two sidekicks, Mr Fish and Miss Fowl. Miss Fowl (Miranda) has a weird prosthetic pointy nose, totally has the hots for the Hooded Fang, has a MUSICAL NUMBER ABOUT IT WTF, and also has fucking awesome boots.

I didn't take any caps and I can't be bothered to put it back in and do so right now, but perhaps I'll cap the boots of awesome for you at some point. Miranda actually has quite a visible role.

I also watched 'Eat The Rich', which is.... well, I don't really know. Black comedy, social commentary, written by people on crack? Whatever, it was fun enough. Miranda only has one scene, so I capped it. I also made a clip of it, and am posting both. I think that the caps are quite possibly funnier, because of the sequence and the fact that you have no idea what is going on.

So I took on a second character over at [livejournal.com profile] road_ahead - [livejournal.com profile] rar_muriel - yes, that is Auntie Muriel, of the pink flamingo hat and the telling Hermione she has skinny ankles and disparaging Dumbeldore and always reading Rita Skeeter. I've only played her once so far, but she's lots of fun. Her PB is Agnes Moorehead as Endora (because I couldn't resist *g*), so I have of course been trawling the intarwebz for pictures of her.

And I found this fantastic website with oodles and oodles of pictures, and I decided that I had to picspam you. Not at all dial-up safe.

The year is 2030. Rita Skeeter, on fashion tips from one Cruella DeVille, has changed her hair colour. and developed a thing for the American flag, apprently

Okay, so not really. But seriously, Nana Mae Frost (no, really) looks like Rita on the best sort of crack.

Those caps were taken from the trailer for Southland Tales, a new sci-fi film directed by the dude behind Donnie Darko.

Oh, how I love good scifi.

This one went to Cannes last year and got laughed out, so they've recut it and apparently decided to go for the Big Splodey Blockbuster form of advertising. Still, it looks great, and maybe it will get a wide release with the cast of muscle bound men and cute pop stars. Which is fine by me, because I'll be there for the Miranda. If I can enjoy Vin Diesel's wooden badassness in Riddick for the awesome of Judi Dench, I'm sure I can make myself like The Rock for two hours as well.

Back in Sydney. Read DH. Have been devouring the fandom explosion with gusto. I think I'll make own posts with comments shortly, but I want to do this one separately so no one who hasn't read will be spoiled.

Photos of Seattle, Sailing, Rita and Gilderoy and Avery, Rana and Coco and Marina and more! :D )

And, as they say, that's all, folks! I don't want to be home just yet! Holidays are always over too fast.
featherxquill: (Miranda Peace Bitch)
This stuff pilfered from various lovely people over at the MRAP forums. Fred Claus looks like it's going to be a fairly stupid film, to be honest, if the trailer is anything to go by, but OH, it will be worth it to see Miranda in those costumes.

Here, have some screencaps from the trailer:

Now we know why Santa only leaves the North Pole once a year. Because he has a severely hot wife. )

I think I may die from the hot. And the red hair. Oh yes.

Also, I was watching episodes of 'Call My Bluff' and 'V Graham Norton' recently. In the one, Miranda revealed that she loves cormorants, in the other, that she loves nature and birds and is into falconry. How completely awesome is that?

When Graham didn't get the hobby, she said: "I don't have to explain to you the joy of having a wild beast thrashing around on your fist, do I?"

WIN, MANDA. sjdghjsghjsfhss. WINx1000000

Also, she was wearing GREEN STILLETOS. Fuck me sideways. *dies*

Have a picspam of Miranda sreencaps from my two latest acquisitions, Enchanted April and Saint Ex, both of which are strange but enjoyable little films. Manda is particularly hot in the latter.

Apologies for graininess and any weird sizing photobucket has done.

The Scold's Bridle is freakin' fantastic. Such a different role to the ones Miranda usually plays. I kind of like the warm fuzzy side to her acting :D.

Also, I really, really wish that had been on DVD rather than VHS, both so I could burn it and keep it for always, and because I would love to have taken some screencaps of the hottness that is Sian Phillips. I think I might have had a crush on her before I even knew what crushes were, when I saw Heidi as a kid, and this just confirms it. Voice. Sadistic, evil bitch in a satin robe with legs that I would kill for? MMMM. Yes. Anyway.

A few pics I found of her floating around the web )
