HBP AHOY
First thought - JKR is a MASTER - she plays her fans like violins. Not only is she familiar with fandom, she uses it within her world to blow everyone out of the water. That was pure genius.
I've read through my entire flist now, and there seems to be something no one has noticed....
SNAPE HEARD THE PROPHESY, KNEW it was Trelawney who gave it, and there was NO sign of her at Dumbledore's funeral, AND NO ONE NOTICED.
If Snape truly is evil (I'm not convinced, really) a) why did he not tell Voldemort it was her, and b) why the FUCK is no one concerned for her saftey????!!!!
Let us FIND Trelawney before it is too late!!!
A few other things --
I HEART "Mollywobbles", Sybill stashing her bottles, and McGonagall telling Neville that his Grandmother failed Charms.
And now there is a REAL vampire in canon - A VAMPIRE, standing around end eyeing people hungrily and having a pastry - SO FUCK YOU ALL, 'Lucretia cannot exist because a vampire has never appeared in canon' people. Choke on the canon-vampire, plzthnx.
I have to say, I cried BUCKETS about Dumbeldore, but somewhere between the tears, this tiny, oldladysb part of me went 'woohoo, more McGonagall in book seven!' I felt like such a traitor.
For some reason, I was devastated about the death of Amelia Bones. It just set such a bleak tone, right there at the beginning.
I was surprised, and a little disappointed, that were none of Minerva's memories in the pensieve. If the Lexicon dates are right, she MUST have spent some time at Hogwarts with Tom Riddle. I'm hoping that perhas she was one of the people who wasn't willing to discuss it - or wasn't willing to let Harry see the memory, at any rate (she seems like a private person, and seemed to know something of what Dumbledore was sharing with Harry. I hope we get some backstory on that, eventually.
On the realase-party note, it was HEAPS of fun (freezing up in the mountains, but FUN). Tell you one thing for free, though - Sybill Trelawney is lucky she is fictional, because goign to the bathroom in that many skirts and shawls is a total bitch.
Was rather weirded out to realise I was the most rabid fan there - seriously, the people who ORGANISED the thing thought 'dificult' trivia questions were 'what is the name of Voldemort' snake?' and 'what was Lily Potter's maiden name?'
O.o
I consulted my 'orb' on the question of how many muggle parents Hermione Granger had, and what they did for a living.
All in all, it was wonderful. They did such a good job with the train (we stopped at 'Azkaban' and 'Hogsmeade', and they'd even changed the signs) - there was a magic show, and bertie botts beans, and all sorts of fun things.
The only thing that went wrong at all was that my magnetic necklace stuck to my massive earrings, so I had to wear it on my wrist instead *smirk* Katrina took photos with her digital camera, so when I get my new computer I'll upload them to it and post them here.
