Oh, Bewitched, you own my soul

My copy of Bewitched Season 7 arrived today. Yes, I bought it from Amazon, which I feel kind of guilty about, but I threw a copy of Olivia into my order also. I figured if I was going to buy from Amazon, I could at least show them that I also support GLBT books. Truth is, Amazon is the best place to buy DVDs I can't get here (for some reason, Bewitched 7 has an 'unknown release date' here, despite the other six seasons being available), and I don't know anywhere else that has their range and also their reasonable prices and good shipping reputation (everything I order comes within two weeks, which is pretty good for international). If anyone else knows any alternative sites, though, please clue me in! All of the copies available on ebay were stupidly overpriced.

Anyway, I just needed to say that god, this show is FUCKING AWESOME. 'Salem Saga' killed me about a thousand times. Here, have some caps:

Samantha and Darrin are on their way to Salem, mortal style. Endora is on her way too, witch style.

OMG HI *waves*

Hilarity ensues when various plane people look out the window. Samantha pops out too and refuses to stay, chilling on the wing of an airplane, so Endora comes inside.

Photobucket
"I believe you have my seat."

"I think there's been a mistake."

"There certainly has. You just made it."

Darrin says omgz I can't believe you did that. What happens when he doesn't get to Boston? Endora says he is in Boston, for your information, just a little ahead of schedule.

In Boston, dude watches his flight land.

Photobucket

Endora, getting off plane. LOOK THERE HE IS HI *waves*

Inside:

Endora: "Lovely flight, wasn't it?"

HAHAHAHAHA *ded*.

Then drivin thru Salem with her homies (I love the way she doesn't do anything normally):

Photobucket
"Must your mother ride on the outside of everything?"

And there you have it. I'm a Dick Sargent convert, possibly from that line alone.

Endora is also the only TV character who has ever made me *clap* the television (or computer, as the case may be) screen. As soon as they arrive in Salem, Darrin and Sam go to a museum, where an enchanted bedwarmer accosts Sam and follows them back to their hotel. Sam explains to Mother when she pops in.

"It's about this bedwarmer. It practically attacked me in the house of seven gables."

Photobucket

*pointing to Darrin*

"It's much more attractive than that bed warmer."

Angie: *applauds screen*

I think I have way too much love for innudendo.

The bedwarmer saga goes into the next ep, too, and they milk the pun to death. Which I find amusing, every single time.

And that concludes the exhibition of my fangirlery for today.

You can watch Salem Saga here, if you are so inclined.

oh, oh, oh! *dies* I just love you !
I'm happy your collection is becoming complete!
Thanks for sharing the screencaps!
Did you secretly wanted to be Endora's girlfriend or something when you were younger, or still now? lol *sighs*

I wanted to be her when I was little. Indeed, I ran around often telling people I was a witch and I also had an 'Endora hat' that was like, pink and something.

Now I'd kind of like to be one of the people she pops off to see, and maybe join her in some mortal-baiting *g*.

A Favourite

I was about 11 or 12 when this program was first aired and I have always loved it! Endora was my favourite trouble maker. I've seen these in Costco but haven't picked any of them up, you are making me think I should.

I always loved Endora. I love that she never apologized or tried to hide who and what she was, much to Samantha and Darrin's chagrin. :)

Love the trench coat.

I was considering various substitutes to Amazon, but Bookrepository for some reason or another doesn't ship to Denmark. Play.com is great on DVDs though.

Aren't their clothes to die for? Lavender and green? Endora's flowers and Sam's mini-trenchcoat? omg And look at Samantha's brown and blue polyester!

All that is so nostalgic to me! Love that show so much.

Endora has lavender everything. Well, we see her in it a lot, anyway, and there's even an episode where she drives a dune buggy looking thing into the Stephens' living room, and it's also purple. Lavender was Agnes' favourite colour, and it seems that the makers of the show knew her well/liked to indulge her.

Awe, I miss things making me appluad the screen. I can't say for certain but I'm sure Endora has done that to me a few times.

I'm a bit out of it but wanted to say I love these.

Oh Bewitched! I used to watch it with my mother. Happy memories!

I thought Amazon printed a retraction of their Anti Gay stance and labled it a computer malfunction?

Yeah, they did, but I'm not sure I believe the 'computer malfunction' thing entirely. I wasn't going to buy anything from them for a while, but like I said in my post, it's the only place to get the DVDs I can't get here at a reasonable price (and sometimes, with the more obscure ones, at all).

[identity profile] fey-spirit.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't buy it either =)
But I am happy to accept that Amazon quickly realized how bad they fucked up, tucked their tail betwee their legs and came whimpering back basically saying "Of course we wouldn't do that... we would have to be stupid to do that, the only way anything that stupid could possibly have happened is if the computer screwed up."
