Mmmm, movies

Yesterday, I went to buy milk at the place next door to the video store. Bad idea. Spending money I don't have on movies? What the hell, why not?
Yay for movies.
Yesterday, I hired Shadowboxer, with Helen Mirren and Cuba Gooding Jnr (I didn't even know it was out here, zomg), and I've heard bad things about it from the HMAS, but I really enjoyed it! I mean, really, anything with an interracial, intergenerational relationship in it is awesome in my book. OMG Helen/Cuba *dies*. Story was brilliant, too.
englishwannabe, you should definitely get this one out. With your 'mother' obsession, you'll love it. All I'm sayin'. Go hire it.
I also hired '8 Femmes' again, which was just as awesome as the last time I saw it, except maybe even more, because omg it's just so sapphic. I took about a zillion screencaps. Icons coming soon.
So, I took Shadowboxer back today, and and course I had to hire more movies. I know I do this, so I don't even know why I let myself go in there in the first place. I know I am now damned to hire 6 movies per week for the next few weeks, until I get it out of my system.
norwegianne, I blame you entirely for my burgeoning Isabelle Huppert obsession. I got Me and My Sister out today, and also I Heart Huckabees. I feel it coming on, the same ravenous 'omg I wanna see more of her work' that happened before I fell hopelessly in love with Miranda. :D
I also have Some Like It Hot, Evil Under The Sun (yay Maggie!), Roman Holiday, Last Tango in Paris and Picnic At Hanging Rock.
At least I can blame my need for shiny to watch on the fact that I'm getting my wisdom teeth ripped out next Friday, and will be sore and in need of things to take my mind off it.
Also, I stopped smoking two days ago. I have patches, and yay. Watching Shadowboxer and 8 Femmes did not help with that (omg it is so not fair that Helen and Catherine Deneuve and Fanny Ardant look so freaking hot when they smoke). I had a stupid little ritual when I smoked my last one. It involved defiantly lighting up my last clove in my bedroom while listening to Tori Amos' 'Taxi Ride' (And I'm down to Your last cigarette and this "We are one" crap as you're invading This thing you call Love - she smiles way too much).
This morning, I listened to Kate Bush's 'Hounds of Love Album', and then immediately afterward, threw in Rammstein's 'Reise, Reise'. Dude, wtf. Does anyone else in the world have those cds back to back in their cases? LOL
Peace out.
