Mystery Solved

Mum solved the mystery of the randomly appearing, gross white maggoty-larvae thingers. They weren't hornets.
There was a dead mouse under the wall unit. They were coming out of it. I don't know what they were - too big for flies - and I don't want to know. It's gone now, thank god, and somehow I am less bothered by that than by the thought that hornets might come out of my bedroom air vent and try to kill me in my sleep.
Open letter to cat(s):
Dear Killer(s),
If you really must bring the things you kill inside, please leave them in places where they are easy to see. Honestly, as grossed out as I was a few weeks ago when I got up in the morning to find seven dead baby blue-tongues strewn across the foyer and kitchen, I really would rather you left them where I could see them. Corpses are boring. They don't move, and you know this. They are no fun. Please don't play with them and bat them under the wall unit so things start laying eggs in them.
Kthx,
Me

Date: 2008-03-23 07:48 am (UTC)Though, you didn't smell it? One time we had a mouse die somewhere at work, during some construction where it would have been two days' work to get into the temporary space where it died? And it was like a week before any of us could stand to work at the computer station in the area.
To sum up: ewwwww.

Date: 2008-03-23 08:08 am (UTC)The night before it was found, I thought I could smell something out there, but it was only faint, and I wasn't sure if I was imagining it, or if it was just general kitcheny smell. The first time I thought I noticed it was only just after dinner, so I thought telling my mother that something smelled a bit rotten and rank might have been a bit insulting :P
