I am back from my week away as of yesterday. It was muchly fun. Lots of catching up, cruising the park in a friend's turor (open-topped four-seater) listening to music and being silly, bonfires on the beach, etc.

A few things, which may or may not have anything to do with my holiday:

i.

Dear Ken,

Phone is not a verb. Learn this.

Physically incapable of 'phoning someone up',

Me.

Edit: I stand corrected. But it's still annoying.

ii. The TMX Elmo, as I have been wanting to say for a while, is the funniest thing I have EVER SEEN. I should take my camera to work and film it in action because it pwns.

iii.

Dear Guy We Saw At The Carwash,

I would really, REALLY like to punch you in the face. Repeatedly. I have voiced this opinion on many occasions to people, but I feel the need to write it down. I know a lot of hot rodders are living in the eras their cars were made in, a lot of the time, and this is something I can usually cope with because it's only for a week and I know before I go there the place is going to be full of old chauvinists, but you TAKE THE CAKE. Standing there and telling us that 'what you do is let your wife do everything - wash the car, dry it, drive it' is not amusing. Especially when you're standing there drinking a beer and you really are letting your wife do exactly that. You are an asshole, and I hate you on principal.

No love,

Me.

Dear Asshole's Wife,

Get a new husband. And some self-respect.

Sympathetically,

Me.

iv. Raymond, while, like all children, is ocassionally annoying, is the Awesomest Eleven Year Old I Know. He gets this title for many reasons, not least of which is because of how hard he makes me laugh. The most memorable instance of this occured on the theme night this year, when he was dressed as a ghost and I as a vampire. When I grabbed him by the shoulders and bared my fangs at him, he shouted "I'm already deceased!". Dude. I LOL'd like a crazy person.

v. I want to RP. Rita/Snape. Right now. A week with no net access made me antsy for it, and I miss my fictional relationship almost as much as I would miss a real one. I think that is slightly abnormal, but then I've never really been normal.

vi. Have some recs:

Smouldering, She Said by [livejournal.com profile] la_onza. Snape/Rita, PG-13. I love the Rita voice, and the dialogue in this.

Rita Says by [livejournal.com profile] alwaysdrabbles. Rita/Narcissa, PG/R. I did an LJ search for Rita and found this. Rita's age is wrong, which is one of my pet hates in Rita fic, but I got past it here because I really love the way it's written.

Bar Maid (Or Five Lives Rosmerta Never Changed) - Rosmerta, with Ginny, Narcissa, Tonks, Lily and Molly. PG-13. This is just a brilliant story. Wonderful characterisation, very poignant and real. Go and read it.

vii. There is no vii. Not right now, anyway. That is all.
