i. Mouth is gradually feeling better. I have progressed to the eating of pasta.

ii. Makani drew Rita!! :D :D :D. Fellow Rita fans, where is the fannish creation? Seeing this made me realise how long it's been since I saw any Rita fic (or art, etc) that I didn't write myself.

I want Rita fic! *whips minions* Write some for me! :P ;)

iii. At SHH. Rita writes... er, fic? mind!pr0n or something, anyway.

Also, Julain Avery opens a hellmouth and ends up with a new 'pet'. Hillariously entertaining reading. Go look :D.

iv. I feel a really strong urge to just... do some fangirling.

Sometimes, in fandom, I think we take for granted that we are often introduced to pairings/genres and affected and changed as writers by our reading habits, and our interaction with other fandom authors. So I just want to take a moment to acknowledge/thank a few writers that have blown me away/affected me with their work, and who I have probably taken inspiration from, both thematically and stylistically.

[livejournal.com profile] minerva_fan. I'd never read femslash before I found your work. I'd never realised there was Minerva fic, Petunia fic, Sybill fic. I had no idea there was an audience for such things. I remember, initially, that I read your femslash because I just wanted to read everything I could about these characters, and I thought 'I could cope with' femslash for them. I think I was presuming femslash to be like 'lesbian' porn. I have no idea. Perhaps I just thought it would be confronting, but your fic... well. Your women are real and beautiful, full of humanity and depth. Their relationships - whether with each other or with men - are subtle, warm and realistic. I remember being struck by how normal the attractions seemed - how the fact that they were lesbians was just a fact, and didn't matter. Your writing seduced my gently into femslash, and by god, I've never looked back.

Some of my favourites for people who wat to read :). And her masterlist, because choosing just a few as 'favourites' was rather difficult. Go and read everything. Now.

[livejournal.com profile] lilith_morgana. The way you use words absolutely slays me. The way you imagine characters and relationships and put them into words is just amazing. The images and the allusions, the connections you draw between characters and the words you use to describe them - I really find it difficult to put into words just how much I love your style. The fact that you can make me read anything - from Rita/Minerva to Snapeledore - and love it. The faults you find in the characters that you love and the way you write those fractures as beautiful. I have learned a lot from you, both in terms of style and character.

Read some here. And masterlist.

[livejournal.com profile] bartzina13. This one comes as a surprise to me, when I search my brain for authors whose work I return to and that have had a large impact on me. But yes. It probably comes as a surprise to me because unlike the others, I don't know you at all. It's the porn. The honesty. Pure and simple. It's age and pointing out the things that aren't beautiful about your characters, writing nasty women and making me love them, writing detail in the porn, and making me feel it. Unrelenting, but hot.

And some links.

And [livejournal.com profile] tamlane, for a million reasons I've discussed with you already, and cannot re-articulate right now. You're on this list as well, even if I can't find the words tell everyone else why. ♥
