The Pharaoh Sails to Orion
Apr. 19th, 2008 06:37 pmI now have a certificate which has admitted me to the degree of Bachelor of Media. It rained all day, and the ceremony was mostly surreal, but in a good way. Many thanks to you all for your congratulations ♥.
But for something completely different, my favourite song of the moment. One of the things I miss (and got to enjoy yesterday on the getting-into-peak-hour drive over to campus in the rain) about driving to uni every day is the chance to listen to my car CD from beginning to end.
My current car CD is Nightwish's 'Oceanborn', which was, I think, their second album. And the 'showcase' of the album is most definitely 'The Pharaoh Sails to Orion', which is in my top three favourite Nightwish songs, I think (Ghost Love Score will always have first place). It has the most amazing lyrics and music and just gah, I want to share it with you.

Ah, Old School Nightwish owns me. Seeing those concert clips makes me so incredibly sad that the band doesn't exist like that now. I've tried to like the new lead singer, really I have, but they just don't sound like the same band any. In cutting loose Tarja, they've lost what made them unique. I think Toumas sums up my feelings best, actually, in the line from Gethsemane he wrote for Tarja to sing: without you the poetry within me is dead.
