1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Got a full time job, and lost it.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I never make new year's resolutions. I'm terrible at sticking to them, so I don't bother.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. The first close friend of mine to have a baby. He's six months old now, and it still does my head in.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Fortunately, no.

5. What countries did you visit?
I didn't get to go abroad this year D:. But I did enjoy a four-day hostel stint in Melbourne.

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
Travel!

7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The day I lost my job. To be used as a yardstick for 'is it really that bad?' for the next little while, I suspect.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Quitting smoking (well, mostly, and I think that's an ongoing process and I have been slipping a little lately, but I'm still okay, I think. The poster on my wall telling me how much I've saved is really helpful)

9. What was your biggest failure?
See question 7.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing major.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
A really pretty handmade beaded necklace, while I was away at Valla. I should take a picture of it. It's awesome.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Board, fucking car repairs. Oh and I managed to spend $500 in one day back in April, while outfitting myself for no uniform office work. But it was well-spent, because it'll come in handy when I get a new job.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Fannish things! The reaction to my Muriel/Ollivander story at Beholder, DH Part 1 (most especially stills of Bill Nighy as Rufus and the new Rita promo), the release of Towers of Midnight (and actually Wheel of Time in general, really), the great big Christmas fest flail.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Probably anything from Mumford and Sons? I listed to their album for a long time in my car, earlier this year.

18. Compared to this time last year, are you richer or poorer?
Richer. I wasn't so stupid with money this Christmas, so my credit card isn't almost maxxed out. And I have my 'travelling again is more important than smoking' fund.

19. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing, I suppose. Though I did do more this year than last year, I think.

20. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinating,

21. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent it with close family, just relaxing and eating a lot. The ususal. I do love quiet Christmas, because when I was younger they were always so chaotic.

22. Did you fall in love in 2010?
NO :(

24. What was your favourite TV program?
Downton Abbey!

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Eh. Hate is an emotion that takes effort to maintain, and I really can't be bothered putting that much energy into something negative.

26. What was the best book you read?
Holy crap, seriously? Well, I have to say 'The Gathering Storm' was pretty damn awesome. Actually I think it might end up being my favourite WoT book of all, no matter what happens in the last one.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Mumford and Sons, Florence and the Machine.

28. What did you want and get?
A full-time job, when I set my mind to finding one.

29. What did you want and not get?
To keep said job (I'm repeating myself a bit, aren't I? But well, it really coloured my year)

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
RED, Made in Dagenham.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 24, and I spent the evening of my birthday with friends, seeing Kick-Ass (another favourite of the year)

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I'd been able to make it overseas.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Quirky, brightly coloured tights are a great way to still be you while wearing business-y clothes :D

34. What kept you sane?
Fandom, and my friends within it.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I had a total rekindling of my relationships with my older lady loves, this year: Judi Dench and Helen Mirren, mostly.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I actually found myself truly interested in politics for the first time ever, with Kevin Rudd being deposed and the Australian election. Issues like internet censorship, racist ideas touted as political policy, and the lack of gay marriage in this country all get me going.

37. Who did you miss the most?
I kind of miss Chris. I wish he'd surface again, because for all I know he's fallen off the face of the planet, and I'd really like to know what's happening in his life.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Lots of new and awesome flisties :D

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
People will be there for you when you need them

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
'I get knocked down, but I get up again'...?
