You know, somehow I don't think I'm going the right way about these uni readings. I do a few readings on film noir, and guess what, I get a RITA BUNNY. So here. Have this :)
Title: Le Femme
Rating: G
Prompt: Black
Characters: Rita, Stella, their parents.
Summary: When she was eight years old, Rita's parents took her to the cinema.
When she was eight years old, her parents left Stella at home with the babysitter and took her to the cinema.
The muggles made the pictures talk, Daddy said, and they told stories with them. Rita didn’t think that was very special – she’d seen how wizard pictures moved loads of times, but she wanted to see the muggles.
They bought her an ice cream and a drink called Coca Cola that made bubbles go up her nose, and she sat between them in a big, dark room. There were muggles eating popcorn and laughing before the pictures started, and Rita thought they didn’t look very different from wizards really.
The pictures were black and white, and on the screen it always seemed to be night time (film noir, Daddy said; that’s French). There was a man who did things and talked over the top of them like he was thinking, and sometimes she didn’t know what he meant. But lots of times he was talking about a woman.
And then there was a picture of her.
She was beautiful. She walked slowly and smiled in a way Rita had never seen before, smoking a cigarette and making the man fall in love with her. Her clothes were perfect, and Rita thought maybe she was dangerous, because at the end of the movie the man died, and she was still smiling.
I want to be her, Rita told Stella later, but Stella was only four and didn’t understand. There had been nothing but black and white in the pictures, but Rita imagined the brilliant colours of the woman’s dresses – blue and green and red and purple. She would have red lips and nails that matched.
Rita wanted to be like that when she grew up. She wanted to smile like that, and make men fall in love with her, and walk past them when they fell down and laugh as she smoked a cigarette.

Date: 2006-08-22 12:58 pm (UTC)And I loooove the new icon. May I swipe? With credit, of course. (Notices and loves the fact that any Miranda icons I have that I didn't make were made by you. lol)
And I STILL can't figure out which Miranda character I'd like a layout made of. Help?

Date: 2006-08-22 01:19 pm (UTC)Hmmm... I have plenty of screencaps of.... Sylvia Lake, Queen Rosalind, Queenie, Stella, Rita, Pamela Flitton, Vanessa Bell, Lady Van Tassel and Queen Mab, if that helps :). It probably doesn't, lol since that is quite a selection.
Do you want it done with, I don't know, lyrics or something as well, or some sort of text? Because if there's some textual theme you'd like, that might make choosing a corresponding character easier :)
(Oh, and FUCK YOU LJ, K?! It just ATE the ENTIRE three or four paragraph post I just spent like half an hour writing in response to the Rita/Regulus RP thread *kicks it*

Date: 2006-08-22 01:55 pm (UTC)And I was thinking of text but that any text I'd ask you-in your infinate wisdom, to create in-line with the image. But since I can't pick images it might be easier to pick text first.. Hm..
Let's see, going through your list..
I love Sylvia but don't think I want a layout of her.
Queen Rosalind-is that the Danish one? I haven't seen it.
Queenie-kicks ass, obviously, but the look is off-putting sometimes so I don't know if I want that staring at me. lol
Stella-You KNOW I love her. But I'm not sure about having a Stella layout when you have one. Even if it's different AND made BY you. lol
Rita-Is so tempting. She's up there at the top of the list. Though having a Rita layout imply's to people that I'm into HP and I'm not. JUST the wonder that is Rita.
Pamela-Don't know her.
Vanessa Bell-I like her but she's not layout material. Even if textually she'd be good.
lady VT- Hmm.. think she's high up on the list.
-Mab-I love but I don't know if I want a layout of her. Even if her colors would look wonderful. Hm.

Date: 2006-08-22 02:02 pm (UTC)Which also comes to what colours you'd like, too. Certain characters would look better with certain colours.
LVT, for example, I'd see with mostly blues, and I notice your current layout is blue (do you want to keep the blue). As would Mab, though, blue and purple and whatnot.
I could combine, too, if you wanted. I made a Mary McDoneel banner for a friend recently with Laura Roslin from Battlestar Galactica and Stands With A Fist from Dances With Wolves on it, and put them together with this 'brave women of new worlds' theme, and I'm sure I could think of something to bidn two characters if you wanted them.
Haha, this is probably not making the decision any easier.
(oh, btw, yes, too freakin' lazy to change off this sn).

Date: 2006-08-22 02:27 pm (UTC)I don't mind the blue but maybe want something completely different.
Also, thanks for doing this btw. lol
See the two that pop to mind first are Rita and Stella.. Now, both are very colorful. But does that mean they'll work?

Date: 2006-08-22 02:30 pm (UTC)Oh, btw. Do you want to stay in generator or do you want a layout change as well?
