Flist, help!
My less than/comma key has fallen off the keyboard of my laptop completely. This is really not very fun. But, er, what can I do about it? As you can see, it still does work, but it's very annoying. Does anyone know if I can just glue it back on? Would that fuck it up completely? Apart from that - er, what else can I do (apart from writing shorter sentences and putting fewer italics in my LJ posts)? It looks like it was attached to the computer with a little rubber thing. I just don't want to do anything that will damage it permanently if fixing it is possible. Really, really don't wanna hafta get an external keyboard.
Any ideas?

Date: 2007-03-10 01:26 am (UTC)I think I shall do that, if I can't figure out a way of gluing it. Surely they'll be able to fix it (though my experience with laptop companies is often 'sorry, we can't do anything, you'll have to buy a new computer, oh woe').
Btw, omg your icon! That quote! :D
hee. 'Is there chocolate inside?' ;)

Date: 2007-03-09 04:35 pm (UTC)Why did your key fall off? If nothing's broken you might be able to just click it back in place. My k has a tiny little plastic tap broken off, so that's why it didn't hold when clicked back on.
If you do try the glue, you might want to be careful not to get it stuck and to clean the bits where you put the glue on so that it'll stick better. I considered using glue in the corners as well for when I clicked it back on, but I realised that if I did that I might get it stuck. I suspect the bits holding it in place in the corners are supposed to be able to move in order for it to be a button.
(I'm considering if I might be able to plunder the keyboard on the old laptop and replace the plastic thingie with the tap broken off though, but I haven't gotten around to that yet. It's the same brand of laptop (but not the same model) so in theory it might work)

Date: 2007-03-10 01:23 am (UTC)I'm not sure if anything's broken - it's kind of hard to tell. I think there must be, though, since it won't click back in. Thanks for your advice! I was mainly worried that glue would bugger it up completely. What sort of glue did you use? Like a crafty kind of one, or super glue?
