Hey peeps.

Er, yeah. I'm alive. I've even been reading my flist some. Basically, work and uni are kicking my ass, and stoatshead_hill is my main tool of procrastination, so I haven't been posting much.

But. Yeah. Fandom Implosion.

There's one thing I have to say. Seriously, people, CALM THE HELL DOWN. There's nothing like watching something go from 'LJ has deleted some fannish comms for promoting illegal activity in their interests, which violates the TOS, whether it's silly or not in the fandom context' to 'zomg1! we must all lock our journals and delete anything remotely kinky'.

No. Just... no.

I don't care HOW much of a vigilante organisation these Crusaders For Innocence (or whatever) are, they DO NOT have time to search every LJ user and comm for things they disapprove of. This is not an attack from LJ. This is not an attack on fandom. This is LJ covering their asses so they don't get sued by Stupid Internet Vigilantes. They are deleting things that violate the TOS, not going on a crusade to cleanse LJ of kinky porn.

Seriously. CALM DOWN.

Yes! Another voice of reason. They're few and far between at the moment. Seems like most people are convinced that it's an attack on fandom specifically and are going all up in arms about it (without considering the fact that fanfiction as a concept is already living in borrowed time. All it takes is for the copyright holders to get sick of it and that will be the end of it, as shiv5468 pointed out.)

I'm getting tired of all of the rumors. At some point last night someone said "Hm, I wonder if maybe Fanlib is taking advantage of the situation and is actually responsible for the fandom journals being deleted." Now half the world has more "evidence" that Fanlib is the spawn of satan despite there not being one scrap of real evidence to point us in that direction (unless something came out while I was asleep; this is my first look at my flist since 3 am)
