Also, the musical is starting in Melbourne in July.

The book is WAY different than the musical, I'll just warn you. Its a great show (seen it twice), and I think you'll love it. Do you have the music? I can upload it for you :)

Different in what ways? Is it mainly about their time at school and such? I loved the political element of the book - is there any of that in the musical?

I think I'd enjoy it for the shiny regardless, but maybe I'll try waiting and see if it comes to Sydney.

The musical derives a lot stronger from the movie in a lot of elements. And overall, not nearly as dark. Well, at least I thought it was dark, but I only got a 1/4 of the way into it before I put it down for a bit, so. It does a good job of encapsulating their time at school, in the Emerald City, Elphaba being on the run, etc. I think you'll like it, but it won't be a play version of the book is mostly what I meant to warn you of, so if you go expecting that, it might be disappointing. But its well done regardless.

Hey! Sorry about that. And sorry about how long it has taken me to reply to this comment. I fail at keeping up with anything that isn't RP, clearly.

I use featherxquill at gmail these days. I don't check the hotmail account very often any more. As for the offer, I'm going to say thanks, but exercise some self-restraint and decline. I already have far too many things on my computer that I've never even looked at, just because they were yay shiny so I took them. And my computer can only handle so much.

Also, I have Cadbury Creme Eggs for you. I shall mail them tomorrow. They'll be a little late for Easter now (sorry! I thought it was the 28th/29th weekend!) -- but you'll still get to enjoy them, y?

Seconding the comment about the book being INSANELY different from the musical, but I've seen a leak before and the musical is amazing in it's own right.

Yeah, even if it is vastly different, I'd like to see it. Might end up waiting and hoping it comes to Sydney, though, because I've no idea who else would want to spend money on going to Melbourne for weekend to see a show they know nothing about.
