When
road_ahead announced that it was closing, I told myself I might take a break from RP for a while. Apparently, I fail completely at abstinence, because in the space of a few days I signed up for not one but two brand new games. I'm so excited I could burst.
Bloodlines is a canon-based, post-DH game set in 2002. The wizarding world has regained its equilibrium after the war, but is about to be thrown into fear and chaos again. I'll be playing Rita Skeeter - Rufus Scrimgeour's widow and one of the founders of the new Independent newspaper. There's already heaps of prep and excitement going on behind the scenes. Everyone is really enthusiastic. I would especially love to see some more older gen for my girl to interact with. Kingsley (Auror, not Minister)? Narcissa? Irma? Andromeda? Anyone! *pokes older-gen lovers on flist*

Last night, the five highest ranking Aurors on the squad ended up dead. And it looks like whatever killed them may be contagious....

Bloodlines is a post-Deathly Hallows, non-epilogue compliant Harry Potter roleplaying game set four years after the Battle of Hogwarts. The focus of the game is on building strong, dynamic characters, exciting plotlines, and an overall good story as the characters move through their daily lives in a world thrown once again into upheaval. The mods are active both in playing and plotting, and players are encouraged to become involved in existing plots and to create their own stories and characters.
Our roster of level one characters only lacks Neville! Others are still available and needed, including Draco, Michael, Terry, Padma, Parvati, Dean, Seamus...many others. Join us!

Now casting! Currently in pre-game brainstorming phase.
Gameplay begins July 4, 2009.
Waking Pandora is an AU, post-apocalyptic survival game, in which there are only a small number of people left alive, who must start from scratch. The premise is absolutely awesome, and I'm so excited about playing in something so different. I'll be playing Poppy Pomfrey (
wp_poppy) there, and I'd love to see some of you! Take a look under the cut and check out the available cast.

Waking Pandora is a combination RP game that mixes the 'what if' of the History Channel show Life After People with the Harry Potter universe in a unique way.
In the Year 2000, a group of Muggles became aware of the Wizarding community and felt they were a threat to humanity. They worked in secret to create a deadly virus that would target anyone with magical blood but it backfired. The virus began spreading indiscriminately – Muggles and Magicals began dying in vast numbers from the disease whose only outward sign is the appearance of red spots on the victim's body. Within 48 hours, anyone infected died of a cerebral brain hemorrhage.
When the consequences became apparent, both sides rushed to isolate the virus but it was too late. Mass transport carried the virus to the corners of the planet slowly but surely as infected fled under the cover of darkness, only to spread the disease further. The first of the stasis chambers was readied two weeks after the first outbreak, Muggles working feverishly to set up solar-powered cryogenic rooms and the Wizarding world did the same – using spells engendered to last over long periods of time.
Neither side was hostile in their agreements to leave means for the human race to survive, both sides choosing small numbers of young, strong, genetically diverse and a minor handful of older, more knowledgeable members of their societies in every country. The hope that most of these chambers might hold out against the tide of decay was the push that drove the scientists and wizards to the very end.
One hundred years after the chambers were sealed, the first opens, then another and another. One alcove of wizards and witches are waking inside the tomb of the Hogwarts castle, in the former Room of Requirement, to find the world has returned to the beasts, the castle is a veritable jungle and the world they knew no longer exists. Equipped with only rudimentary survival gear, they must find a way to not only survive but contact the other stasis chambers in a bid to restart humanity.

Date: 2009-06-10 09:00 pm (UTC)These both look really interesting. Especially the Post-apocalyptic one.
I notice you're using Harriet Walter as your PB over there. I don't know if it's of any use to you, but I have a whole buncha Harriet PB icons. (I used Harriet as my PB for McGonagall, but since Life Ahead is also closing, I'm not using them at the moment). Some aren't very hi-res, but you're welcome to use any that you like. I've a zipped file of them here (http://rapidshare.com/files/243132753/Harriet_Walter_PB.zip.html).

Date: 2009-06-11 05:07 am (UTC)I take it you like the forum-based games better. What is it you don't like about journal-based?

Date: 2009-06-11 06:14 am (UTC)Maybe I've just had some bad experiences though, I dunno! *shrug*

Date: 2009-06-11 04:00 pm (UTC)Hahahaha, I guess it's just a matter of what you get used to. After asking you what you disliked about journal-based, I tried to think what it was I liked about it, and my main reasons were chronology and tags. Also icons, because I am so obsessed with having eleventy-one images of my character's face that I have repeatedly given LJ money for it. But mostly the organisation, so I guess it's just what you;re used to looking at and navigating?
Admittedly, I have seen some LJ based games with hardly any formatting and no tagging system, and that does hurt my brain, so I can see where you're coming from. I suppose organisation is something I look for before I app, because there have been a few games I was interested in, went to look at, and ran away screaming from because of the incomprehensible posting format.

Date: 2009-06-10 11:59 pm (UTC)Shit. That first one?
The intrigue.
Rock on for the addiction, yo. XD

Date: 2009-06-11 04:59 am (UTC)Robards? :D :D
Or, anyone? It would be so awesome to play with you again!
If you're worried about time, take a look at the different character 'levels'. If you pick a Level 3 character, there's no minimum requirement - just when you are needed/when you're in the mood.

...Robards or Savage. >.> And I may have started poking around with one for Savage. I don't know. Because I am eenterested in him, but I miss me some Gawain. Erm. But I am liking the idea of this level three, and I am liking the idea of this playing, and I am thinking that having something else for brain to think on might be, erm, useful. Or I can maybe pretend.
CURSE YOU AND YOUR TEMPTATIONS except not really because dude, awesome. XD I think maybe you win at the H to the P temptations?
Also, Rita as the Scrimgeour widow? Fucking awesome. :D MORE INTRIGU-ED... NESS.

I've never seen your Savage before. Is he forming all-new in your brain, or do you have a prior played or in-brain version of him to start from?
Of course, also love for your Robards (and the entirely plausible encounters of awkward/uncomfortable/hella amusing that could happen between he and Rita), so whoever you choose would be :D :D :D from my POV.
*very much enjoys tempting you and your response to said temptation >:D*

Date: 2009-06-12 04:00 am (UTC)And Savage is one of those who's kind of been around and semi-played as one in a multi-Auror journal and in mini-ficthing, but not really received much development. Have wanted to kind of play around with him and see whether anything comes of it soooo ye-es... <.<
Also, this gave me something to think about on car trip. WHOO.
FIEND.
Though truefacts, the awkward moments with Rita and Robards kind of made me :D lots, ehehehe. So I guess...
*not sure whether any of this was in logical order or something but um HEY WHATEVERS*

Date: 2009-06-12 08:48 pm (UTC)ANOTHER car trip? You are certainly moving around a lot lately!
Also I have IDEAS so you should come on YIM sometime soon so I can talk to you! :D
