Currently Fangirling: Jane Curtin

Wow, you guys. I've been silent and lurky for ages. It was the RP. I was doing so much of it that I didn't have time for anything and was in a constant state of need to write tags. Tired me out, so I dropped one of my games. And now I have time again, to read my flist and apply for jobs and, well, fangirl the shit out of new people.
Like JANE CURTIN, who is so freaking adorable I could die.
So it's not really NEW, I suppose. I mean, I kind of loved Mary Albright when I was fourteen and watched 3rd Rock from the Sun not at all religiously but sometimes. And then I hired Season One on DVD a few weeks ago, and wow, I totally identify with Dick being all ajsgjsfshfshs over her, because omgyes, she is just as awesome as I remember.
And now I've watched some other stuff she's been in - Scorsese's Brooklyn Lobster and The Librarian triology - ludicrous but awesome television movies with Noah Wyle in which she is his bitchy boss lady.
Here, have a picspam and a video:
1. The Pretty of her younger years

2. The FREAKING ADORABLE of her now years

3. SCRUNCHY-NOSE LAUGH

4. DUDE, SHE'S TINY.

I know there are more Dick/Mary images to better illustrate the how tiny and cute she is, but capping six seasons of that would have been a slippery slope (I have 200+ caps of another awesome sitcom character who shall remain nameless sitting on my computer - I CANNOT STOP copping once I start).
5. Playing the BITCHY BOSS LADY in the Librarian
Okay, so, as soon as I read about the premise of the series I thought it was going to be ludicrous and hilarious. I was right, but it it actually ludicrous in the best sort of way. It's like Indiana Jones, only with a smaller budget and crappier special effects, with a dash of modern James Bond answering to M thrown in. Where Jane is sort of M, only not. It was seriously actually far less crap than I thought it would be, and far more fun.
Anyway. Jane's character is awesome because she has just enough backstory to be interesting, and because she's such an awesome bitch. The librarians are all SAVING THE WORLD and shit and she's all SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS and SERIOUSLY SAVING THE WORLD I'VE HEARD THAT EXCUSE A MILLION TIMES AND IT DOES NOT FLY. And I kind of want to read fanfic about her. >.>

6. IDEK
But I couldn't not include this picture from the 3D ep of 3rd Rock.
.
7. She's HILARIOUS.
Seriously. She's awesomely talented and funny, and to prove this I made a video of my absolute favourite Mary Albright moments from 3rd Rock. I've never made a multi-clip video before, and damn it's a lot of work, so enjoy please! :D

And the New Orleans one is hilarious. I especially loved his meltdown at the beginning and the drunken visit from Charlene after her 'combination speed dating/wine tasting' evening.
They're cliche as hell, but so amusing. And the female characters mostly kick lots of ass, which is always a good thing.

Freudian slip is Freudian. And possibly slippery. With any luck. ;P

I totally wrote this post at 6am before sleeping, so I blame any Freudian slips entirely on brain-whee-ness.
I bought season one of Kate and Allie on Amazon. I couldn't find it in the places I usually look for things, so decided to fork out the money, zomg, is it going to make me shippy?

Date: 2009-09-06 07:04 pm (UTC)Yes. OMG you must watch it. PERFECT home-sick-with-no-braincells viewing. Actually, the third one is the best, I think. The budget was clearly bigger because the special effects are less pasted on, and more characterisation happens too. :D
