On July 26th, this year, Helen Mirren turns 60! To celebrate, I challenge ALL of you to a HM/Prime Suspect Drabblethon!

We are all waiting for Prime Suspect 7, are we not? And we've all heard that Helen will only do it if they KILL Jane Tennison *sobs*.

How's she going to die? Why wait to find out? Let's write it ourselves!

Rules:

1. Drabbles are to be 100 words. No more, no less.
2. Jane Tennison must die, or be dead already.

Obviously, the death of one of our favourite fictional characters is an angsty topic. Angst is lovely, and encouraged, but BONUS points will be given to anyone who can write something comedic, albiet black.

EVEN MORE bonus points for the person who thinks of the weirdest/most random cause of death (like survivng a serial killer, then choking on a ham sandwich, or something).

Deadline: July 20, 2005.

Comment on this entry with a link to your drabble, or post it in its entirety, and I'll compile them into one obscenely long post, in time for Helen's birthday.

Let the drabbles begin!

I am Ebil Incarnate. I have yet to see a single Prime Suspect. Any chance of getting this expanded (like we did on [livejournal.com profile] chamalla_dreams's Marymas Drabblethon) to include all Helen Mirren characters?

For you? *sighs* OH, ALL RIGHT. :)

But only if you promise to go and get your hands on Prime Suspect (it's for your own good, you know).

There's a shoot-out, car chase, horrific accident of some sort, or all three. Jane's body is, as they say in soap-speak, "burned beyond recognition", although personal effects and DNA discovered at the scene lead authorities positively identify the body as Jane's. There is a very large funeral, as befits members of the police who die in the line of duty. We see all the people she worked with in PS 1-6, fine words are spoken, many tears shed. "Tennison" is dead. As the casket is lowered into the ground, we see a dark-haired figure far in the background. Jane, arm in sling, leaves with her driver to prepare for her new life in Special Ops. She does not look back.
