I am starting to get SO EXCITED.

I have officially been accepted for exchange next year, at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK.

I got the email about a week ago, but it all of a sudden feels VERY real.

Applying for an adult passport, comparing UK courses with the ones available here....

...Thinking about being over there for six months, travelling in holidays, meeting people, being part of another culture, seeing the world and feelign like I'm finally, finally being allowed to grow up.

OMG! It makes my stomach do some strange but mostly pleasurable things.

Who-hooo! Coming abroad to study was one of the best things I ever ever did, so I'm so happy for you! You have wonderful adventures to look forward to!

(And we'll be in the UK at the same time, too!)

East Anglia is pretty nice - after all, I have been here for 3 years now and I still like it :)

It does get pretty cold though so bring sweaters!

Congrats on being accepted though =)

Thanks :-D

Oh, you'll bet I'll be bringing lots of warm stuff! Straight from the heart of an Australian summer to an English winter? I'm going to need them!

Congrats!

You're going to have such a great time! It can be a little chilly here sometimes (although right now it's actually warmer than where I live in the States), but it's nice! ^^

We do have some warmer weather due to very strange things happening with global warming. Yesterday was in part of the UK like a summers day!

I am sure you will enjoy it here even though it can be a bit expensive. But then you don't plan on buying a house or anything so you should be fine :-)

I've heard that, about the expense. I have to work my butt off over Christmas to get some more money, and hopefully I can get some work while I'm there. It's the exchange rate that's the killer. It's about two and a half Australian dollars to a pound. But I'll be right, I'll manage (hell, akipping a few meals wouldn't do me any harm!) :)

Ooh. Not a million miles away from where I live.

Sounds very exciting.

A million miles sounds like a long way, LOL. But I'm guesing not too far? I'm excited already and I haven't even left the country!

That's awesome! UEA is where J.K. Rowling went (I bet that's why you picked it :P). Not too far from me, either, in London. We'll have to meet up, have a drink n stuff :)

I thought it was intriguing (I'll have to see if they have a children's lit. course). My first choice was Roehampton, but they could only take three people to go there, and my grades just weren't high enough, apparently. Doesn't really matter, though, since I was torn between the two.

That would be awesome! Ever had a drinking contest with an Aussie before? ;)

Thanks! :) Is it a very scary thing for a mother to think about? Every time I talk to mine about it, she smiles and then tears up like a big girl *hugs her*

It is a bit scary. You'll be a long way away in another country entirely, and no matter how mature you are and prepared you are...she's still going to worry and miss you. It's in the Mother's Code of Conduct...can't be helped, I'm afraid. :) I'm sure she's very happy and excited for you, too. Watching your kids go out on their own into the wide world is both rewarding and difficult...most parents feel a bit conflicted about it.
